Environmental Policy

We here at Frocks Away are committed to the environment.

We strive to ensure, if there is a green option, we choose it. We look to our suppliers to be as environmentally conscious as possible and we stock as many green and ethical products as we can. Frocks Away is committed to reducing the environmental impacts over which we have control or influence.

We shall achieve this by:

  • Using resources wisely and sourcing sustainable.
  • Following the waste hierarchy of reduce, reuse and recycle.
  • Reducing our energy use by efficient heating, lighting and draft proofing.
  • Minimising water use by installing a saver flush in the toilet cistern.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant environmental legislation.
  • Taking action to prevent pollution across our services and products.
  • Taking environmental considerations into account when selecting our suppliers and contractors.

We will ensure this policy is implemented throughout our operations by;

  • Ensuring all employees understand the environmental impacts of their job.
  • Incorporating environmental checks into our cleaning and maintenance schedule.
  • Informing all suppliers, contractors and subcontractors of the requirement to comply with this policy.
  • Periodically reviewing our environmental issues.
  • Reviewing this policy and its effectiveness each year.

In addition Frocks Away:

  • Won a Muswell Hill Low carbon Zone Business Award for our efforts as a 'green' business.
  • Donate, on average, £3500 worth of dead stock to local charities each year.
  • Recycle around 8000 cardboard boxes per year and encourage our shoe customers to do the same with their shoeboxes.
  • Used 48 recycled shop fittings in our 2011 re-fit.
  • Have switched to a green tariff energy supplier.
  • Operate a weekly magazine swap.
  • Encourage our staff to walk, cycle, use public transport or ‘carpool’ in order to get to work.
